This issue of Psicología desde el Caribe brings together reflections and studies that address the ethical, scientific, and social challenges of contemporary psychology. It opens with an editorial emphasizing the need for rigor and continuous review as fundamental principles of psychological research, followed by an analysis of the importance of developing emotional intelligence among university students and its impact on holistic education.

The research articles include a systematic review of the role of clinical psychology in health systems, highlighting the tensions between biomedical models and emerging psychosocial perspectives; an analysis of measurement scales for workplace ageism in Latin America, which proposes advances toward culturally relevant instruments; and a narrative review on the sexuality of trans women, underscoring the transition from medicalized approaches to perspectives centered on subjective experience and well-being.

Together, these contributions offer a critical and updated perspective on contemporary psychological practice, reaffirming the journal’s commitment to interdisciplinary reflection, inclusion, and social transformation.
