Abstract

This work analyzes the bilateral relation of Colombia and the United States at the beginnings of the cold war, in order to demonstrate how this relation made an directly influence in the anti-communist dynamics (political, legal and electoral)untied in Colombia between 1950 and 1966, in which would have its origin the Colombian armed conflict. Against this background, they are organized the first communist self-defense groups of farmers who would give rise to the FARC-EP, and in this way, it appears the first break within the Colombian Communist Party, originated by the position of this last one, against the Cuban Revolution and the armed warfare like the way to accede to the power.
