Productive integration in South America: evidences of vertical specialization

Abstract

This paper analyses international trade of goods in South America. Its objective is to identify trade patterns in the region and particularly apply a quantitative measure for Vertical Specialisation in the aggregated and sector levels in Brazil. This analysis is necessary to evaluate the phenomena related to productive integration, the related sector and its implication for economic development in the context of Latin American Economies.
