Abstract

This article addresses the issue of regional integration in Latin America from a political perspective basing the research in the categories of analysis proposed by the neo-functionalist theory. Integration is analyzed as a process itself, the relevance of the concept of region under these circumstances, followed by a historical development of integration processes in Latin America from the 50's to present day, finding factors that have influenced the stagnation of these initiatives. Evaluating all stakeholders and the favorability of the current characteristics of the regional and international system
