Armadilha da renda média: Uma análise para o Brasil

O baixo crescimento econômico do Brasil nos anos 2010 tem sido abordado de forma recorrente na literatura econômica e vários autores defendem a existência de uma armadilha da renda média (ARM). Este trabalho verifica se o Brasil se encontra nessa armadilha e quais fatores seriam potenciais candidatos para ajudar o país a escapar e avançar à níveis superiores de renda. Para isto, através da análise de cointegração de Johansen (1988), investigou-se a existência de uma relação de longo prazo entre os triggering factors e o PIB per capita do Brasil. A análise compreende o período entre 1954 e 2019 e os resultados indicam que o capital humano, a produtividade total dos fatores e os gastos do governo impactam o PIB per capita do Brasil positivamente. Desta forma, as evidências sugerem que uma melhora destes indicadores contribuiria para o país escapar da armadilha.
