Renda per capita e instituições: uma análise empírica

O objetivo principal deste artigo é analisar empiricamente como a qualidade das instituições políticas e econômicas influencia o desenvolvimento econômico dos países. Para este fim, foi utilizada uma amostra de 151 países no período de 2000 a 2020 para as estimativas dos dados do painel. Os principais resultados sugerem que as instituições políticas e jurídicas que sofrem com a maior influência das forças armadas, bem como a baixa qualidade das leis relativas aos direitos de propriedade têm um impacto mais intenso e negativo sobre a renda per capita dos países em desenvolvimento. Além disso, verificou-se que a maior desigualdade de renda, ao beneficiar alguns setores da sociedade com maior representação política, influencia negativamente o nível de renda per capita.
