Dinâmicas do crédito e da poupança no contexto da crise da Covid-19 na Costa Rica (2019–2023)

Resumo

Em dezembro de 2019, o surgimento do SARS-CoV-2 provocou um forte impacto sanitário, econômico e social em escala global. Este artigo examina os efeitos da pandemia sobre o crédito e a poupança privada na Costa Rica, por meio de uma abordagem mista que combina dados quantitativos e qualitativos provenientes de fontes oficiais e de meios de comunicação, abrangendo o período de 2019 a 2023. Durante 2020, o ano mais crítico, o PIB real se contraiu, afetando variáveis macroeconômicas fundamentais, entre elas a poupança e o crédito. O comportamento desses indicadores evidencia uma crise econômica cuja magnitude foi ampliada por condições estruturais preexistentes que aprofundaram os efeitos da pandemia.
