Estimación de los determinantes del acceso a los servicios de salud en la Región Caribe

En este artículo se analiza el acceso a los servicios de salud para la población perteneciente a los regímenes Contributivo y Subsidiado en la región Caribe colombiana. Se construyen modelos de elección discreta –logit simples y Heckman probit– para conocer los determinantes del uso de los servicios de salud tanto por motivos preventivos como curativos. Entre los principales resultados se encontró que mientras la diferencia en la probabilidad de acceso para los no afiliados es muy importante en el caso de uso de los servicios por prevención, esta diferencia no existe en el caso de hospitalización. Esto sugiere que la severidad de la enfermedad reduce la diferencia de acceso a los servicios de salud de los no afiliados con respecto a aquellos que pertenecen a algún régimen de afiliación.
