El Caribe en la Era de la Globalización: Cadenas de Valor y la Nueva Relación Centro - Periferia

En el presente artículo se realiza un análisis del proceso de redefinición y reestructuración de las economías del Caribe dentro del proceso denominado globalización y su impacto para el desarrollo económico de la región. Para esto se describe la evolución de la relación centro-periferia siguiendo las tesis de Prebisch-Singer, Wallerstein, entre otros. Subsecuentemente se explica como la globalización cambia el paradigma de la economía mundial hacia nuevos conceptos como las cadenas de valor. Finalmente se describe como el proceso de globalización contemporánea ha reestructurado las economías del Caribe y las ha redefinido configurándolas como centros de servicios internacionales, centrados en el turismo, el entretenimiento y las finanzas, preservando las asimetrías que caracterizan una relación económica centro-periferia.

5. That such authorization is granted for free.
