Abstract

This paper presents the economic valuation by tourists visiting the beaches of the city of Santa Marta, based econometric model calculations using the travel cost method, which is used to estimate economic use values of ecosystems. Research shows that the average daily cost in the bays is $ 42,969.67, also found that 47% of tourists considered to be eradicated from the bay, dumping rain water, which results in a reduction of 8 , 4% of visits to this beach. The time spent on the beaches was highly significant for the number of visits. Visitor revenues are not independent of the level of education, but not significant substitution effect.
