A revisão da literatura sobre turismo médico e de saúde é realizada para identificar os desafios que esta temática representa para pesquisadores, acadêmicos, entidades privadas e governo; A informação recolhida e analisada corresponde a pesquisas publicadas de setembro de 2009 a dezembro de 2020, na base de dados ScienceDirect e por snowball, que permite identificar os aspetos que contribuem para melhorar a satisfação do turista médico e fortalecer um destino turístico, bem como a criação de redes de partes interessadas e a adoção de políticas para melhorar não só o setor, mas também para impactar positivamente o sistema de saúde.
