Concentración o desconcentración del mercado de telefonía móvil de Colombia: Una aproximación

El mercado de la telefonía móvil en Colombia, desde sus inicios, ha vivido periodos de alta y baja concentración, debido al proceso de compra, fusiones y libre entrada de empresas. Hoy en día, aunque en el mercado existen 9 operadores, aún este mercado es considerado un oligopolio porque la demanda se concentra en tres empresas dominantes: Comcel (que pertenece a Claro), Movistar y Tigo. Por otra parte dos nuevos operadores, Virgin Mobile y ETB, utilizan la red de Movistar y de Tigo respectivamente. Este fenómeno se presenta por la baja capacidad financiera de los nuevos operadores para adquirir esta infraestructura, de manera independiente. Aunque el mercado de telefonía móvil se ha desconcentrado en los últimos 2 años, debido a los procesos de subastas y nueva participación, los precios bajos de los nuevos operadores y a la mala prestación del servicio de las empresas dominantes, que ha obligado a los usuarios a cambiarse hacia otro operador, aún está aglomerado en Comcel, Movistar y TIGO.

4. The AUTHOR states that the article is original and his/her/their exclusive creation, there being no impediment of any kind for the authorization he/she/they is/are giving, responding thereto by any action: claim, plagiarism or any other type of complaint that might arise about.
5. That such authorization is granted for free.
6. The moral rights of the author on the article correspond exclusively to the AUTHOR, in virtue of which, the Universidad del Norte agrees to expressly and rigorously recognize and respect them.
