Abstract

Due to the growing number of vehicular population in the cities and the need to carry out urban displacements, it has been generated harm to the society such as environmental pollution and traffic congestion. This article presents a review of the most important aspects of this problem, research that have been done to reduce them and in particular, strategies proposed by Metropolitan area of the Valle de Aburrá applied to Medellín city. Finally, a comparison was made of the different approaches implemented in some highly populated cities.
