Computational tool for analysis of ferroresonance in transformers
Abstract
This paper presents a computational tool named FerroUV which is capable of evaluating ferroresonance phenomenons in distribution transformers connected by shielded power cable. Due to the complexity of the ferroresonance phenomenon, analysis requires the use of simulation tools, as well as, highly specialized data clusters, which hinders its rapid assessment. Since there are currently few commercial tools aimed to analysis of ferroresonance, FerroUV is presented as an alternative computational tool that facilitates the study of this phenomenon. FerroUV integrates three high level components: a local database (DB) implemented on MySQL which is useful to query the configuration parameters of the elements under study; a powerful mathematical computing capability and an intuitive user interface which allows easy input of specific parameters, thus obtaining useful results in order to make appropriate decisions which avoid or reduce the risk of damage due to the phenomenon of ferroresonance.Published
