El homicidio: criterio polivalente en la cobertura mediática

Este artículo reflexiona sobre el proceso de la cobertura mediática o la producción noticiosa, cuyo marco teórico son los estudios en periodismo denominados en la literatura académica como sociología de la producción de noticias o newsmaking, que abarcan temáticas como la selección de la noticia, los valores noticiosos y las rutinas periodísticas. El texto se concentra en la evidencia científica de los valores noticiosos que están presentes no solo en la construcción de las noticias, sino también en la fotografía periodística, e incluso trascienden los formatos análogos y digitales, con el objetivo de argumentar que el homicidio es un criterio polivalente o agrupante aplicado por los periodistas en la cobertura mediática y que está asociado a los valores noticiosos, como la frecuencia, el impacto, el conflicto, la negatividad y la referencia a personas.
