Abstract
On May 3, the official launch of the book The fool and the scoundrels took place. Notes for a transmodern republicanism, by the philosopher Santiago Castro-Gómez, at the Bogotá International Book Fair. In the room Manuel Zapata Olivella, where the event was held, about eighty people gathered wanting to know what is the novelty that the beret philosopher's book brings. It is not for less, and the title opens questions and concerns for those who follow the work of Bogota: who will be the scoundrels ?, who is the fool ?, what is that of "transmodern republicanism"? Although it is strange that a philosophy book summons and attracts so many people in the context of the FILBo, it is also true that Castro-Gómez has become a public intellectual
