Abstract

Abstract
The following paper shows the result of a new tool assisted by computer developed for cell coverage prediction in the VHF and UHF bands for urban environments. The application is based on the two ray electromagnetic model in combination with Vogler model, which takes into account the diffraction effects. There were taken several power measurements in Bogota (Colombia), using an automatic monitoring system, in order to validate the implemented model. Based on the power measurement data a new simplified empirical model was proposed which lets predict the coverage in urban scenarios with buildings where the height is comparable with that of the transmitter’s.
