Uso de las Tecnologías de la información y la Comunicación en la industria colombiana. Un análisis comparativo entre sectores
Abstract
The literature on technology adoption highlights that sectoral differences play an important role in the intensity and manner in which ICT is used. Factors such as the nature of production processes, the complexity of value chains, and information requirements vary across different contexts and industries. This research aims to analyze sectoral differences in ICT use among the services, commerce, and manufacturing sectors in Colombia. Beyond identifying whether differences exist, the study seeks to understand sectoral patterns of ICT use and their implications at the firm level. The selection of statistical tests was carried out according to the distributional characteristics of each indicator. The findings suggest the need for differentiated strategies focused not only on access to digital tools, but especially on strengthening capabilities for their effective, sustainable use aligned with the productive objectives of each sector.
