Banking crises in emerging countries: Latin America Case.

Abstract

In the ninety’s decade diverse tension and financial crisis episodes have been
observed to the long and wide of the world. In these episodes they have been involved
the financial domestic systems so much, as the foreign currency market and of internal
and external debt. The bank crises have been more frequent in the last two decades.
The occurrence of these events has generated, consequently, a wide volume of conceptual
and empiric research. This work had two purposes. First of all, to present in a
synthetic way the outstanding results for the economic politics. Secondly, to discuss
certain mechanisms by means the regulation politics and supervision could use these
results in a productive way. It is divided in three parts, each one dedicated to a specific
objective. In the first part, an effort to synthesize what we currently know about the
bank crises is done.
