Are basic and middle school students victims of aggression by their teachers?

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to characterize the level of victimizationof 3226 students from basic and middle education, in Bogotá, Colombia;this was achieved by taking the student´s perception about the episodesof abuse exerted on them by some of their teachers. The instrumentapplied “bullying of students by their teachers”, assesses 20 potentialaggression situations from the teacher towards the students. We presentresults of the descriptive statistical analysis of the data, using item responsetheory. The results obtained in this research indicate that, althoughrare, students are victims of abuse by some teachers.
