Abstract

This investigation was aimed to find out if the economic experiences lived in Barranquilla by university students coming from different cities or towns contributed to their human development. The research was designed following a qualitative method with interpretative patterns. The findings confirm that the economic experiences do contribute to the building of human development, as they become very meaningful in the life of these students. Theses experiences lead them to become true and authentic subjects. As a result of theses experiences they look for liberty and autonomy. Theses economic experiences allow them not only to take a distance from their own desires but also from their traditions. This way, that becomes an authentic experience of progress, of enlightenment, of modernity. So we are in the heart of human development.
