Family relationships in families displaced by violence located in "The Cangrejera" (township of Barranquilla, Colombia)
Abstract
This article presents the W1derstanding of relationships of families displaced by violence living in La Cangrejera, a settlement located in La Playa (a small village near Barranquilla, Colombia). To study the re1ationships, these were understood as interactions among family members, from which processes such as communication and feeling expressions are derived. The research was carried out under the qualitative paradigm, using as methodological design the study of interpretative case. Data were collected through participant observations and open interviews. Results show how difficulties faced by these families has become a reason for union, approaching, and also conflicts, among the different members of the family. Economic difficulties influence as a conflict generator factor, especially in the conjugal subsystem. On the other hand, it was found that families try to adequate their homes to the way the used to live in their places of origin. In one of the family, there are no much cultural changes, the other has suffer a modification in gender role of understand this reality, it was necessary to use psychological, sociological and lingüistic referents.
