Abstract

The clarification of the nature of hypnotic behavior can be achieved by means of systematic research. The use of standardized scales measuring the hypnotic response is key for obtaining studies which can be replicated. In this research, the responses to the Spanish version of the Carleston University Responsiveness to Suggestion Scale were explored in a sample of Venezuelan Students. Similar results to those reported in other countries were observed with respect to percentages of participants with high, medium and low hypnotic susceptibility. It was also found correlation between the subscales in this study and those previously reported in different samples. In this paper, theoretical and practical implications of results are discussed.
