The Concept of Politic in Student’s Representatives of Official Schools in Villavicencio (Colombia)

We present the results related to the concept of politics, the characteristics attributed to this category and knowledge of the functions or role of politics in students' representatives. These are among the findings from the research "Social cognitions of politics in student representatives of official schools in Villavicencio". The study, which involved high school students chosen as representatives of 14 public educational institutionsof this city, was conducted under a qualitative methodology, using interviews and focus groups. Based on an analysis of contents, it can be inferred that different conceptions of politics emerge, some related to the exercise or participation, the political leadership or the administration of a country, in turn, are originated from one set of rules and laws, but characterized by centralization and maintenance of power, corruption, personal profit and social inequality.
