Abstract

There’s no doubt that the topic of domestic violence is a major concernfor social scientists and for people who design public policies in Mexico. The General Law of Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence (GLWALFV)represents a clear example of the connection between knowledgeand power, and boasts an innovative character in epistemological terms byattempting to show that it is multidimensional, objective, ecological, complex and interdisciplinary. The objective of this article is to presenta critical reflection on each of these claims, after which it will concludethat there are inconsistencies and frivolities that deserve a serious andurgent review of its foundations.
