Critical Theory Today: Notes to Organize our Pessimism
Keywords:
political theology, Walter Benjamin,, Günther Anders, Gaza, anti-SemitismAbstract
In times of darkness, in the path of critical theory, this article will approach the apocalyptic experience of our days. Firts, we will refer to the genocidal national colonial political theology that enables it, as it reigns today in Palestine. We shall read it with the warnings that Günther Anders bequeathed to our time: his exhortation to activate the critical imagination anesthetized by technique. Then, we will dwell on the colonial use of the term “anti-Semitism,” by means of which voices are often threatened and censored. Finally, we will try —with Walter Benjamin— to imagine some avenues that allow us to organize our pessimism.
