Six sigmas: Towards the Summit of quality.

Abstract

Six sigmas is a new tool of quality management that is very used in America
and Europe, that aims zero defects in operational and service process in organizations,
using advanced tools of statistics and group leadership
In this article, we evaluate its new methods, before colombian firms popularize this
technique, in order to avoid great mistakes in its applications. We analyze its strongest
and weaknesses. We explore the competitive advantage that a company may reach if
it applies six sigmas correctly. Likewise, we study difficulties that may present in its
application. We also compare six sigmas with a former quality models: total quality
management.
