Work and personal success and satisfaction: how colombian women perceive them
Abstract
This study aims to identify how Colombian women perceive their personal, family and work success and satisfaction, how family demands and work conditions influence these perceptions. 213 women who work at different sectors in Bogotá were surveyed. Through a comparative analysis of mean, synthesizing variables on perception indexes, ordinal regression analysis, model for perception indexes and factor analysis of variables; we found that: 1) satisfaction in any sphere (personal/family/work) is affected by the perception of limitation in other sphere; 2) the success perception revealed three groups: women who look for work-family balance, women motivated by personal success; and, women motivated by job growth; 3) older women and those who have more years working perceive more personal/family and work satisfaction. We suggest deepening the study of the relations between success and satisfaction indexes, as well as, the elements that affect them. The results presented will aid managers to develop career plans and retention strategies of female talent that will help them improve productivity and working conditions. How to Cite
