Factors of the entrepreneur’s profile and the service quality management that influence firm survival: cases from eastern Antioquia (Colombia)

Abstract

This paper explores the relationships between the characteristics of theentrepreneur’s profile, the management service practices and the impact ofthese factors on firm survival, as an indicator of success. Nine cases of nativesuccessful entrepreneurs of Eastern Antioquia (Colombia) were analyzedusing structured interview technique. The results suggest that some featuresof the entrepreneur’s profile and pivotal attributes of the service quality arecommon to the studied cases. Finally, a causal model structured it is proposedfor establish what are the characteristics of the entrepreneur that canaffect their attributes of service quality, and also, which kind of attributescan affect the survival.A further work would be to establish if there are cultural aspects of theorigin region that affect their management practices, in turn, that could bedecisive for the survival and growth of the firms.
