COMPREHENSION OF ADOLESCENCE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE ¿CHRONICLES OF AN ANNOUNCED OVERINDEBTEDNESS

The understanding of bank functioning and the mechanisms of credit and saving are the necessary pre-requirements for developing a rational economical behavior and avoiding an excessive debt level. This article aims to describe the understanding of bank functioning of 165 young men and women from the Colombian Caribbean region. The research was carried out on the scope of economical socialization and from a cognitive, evolutionary, constructivist approach. Results show the presence of a conceptual change evolutionary pattern indicating the existence of more complex representations in the sample older subjects. Differences between socio economical levels and financial background context are observed. Results are discussed by referring to the growing complexity markets imposed on people as a globalization product, and to the necessity of educational lines on the financial area and of education for consuming in the formal education of children and youngsters.
