Abstract

Introduction: Globally, health systems have prioritized improving the performance and quality of services through specific public policies. In consequence, this situation has led developing countries, such as Colombia, to focus on optimizing the use of available resources in their health system, thereby seeking greater efficiency and effectiveness in caring for the population.

Objective: To conduct a systematic literature review on Health Economics in Colombia based on the evidence in the literature.

Methodology: This was a systematic literature review conducted in the Dimensions database, the study documents were selected according to the eligibility criteria, following the recommendations of the SALSA method and adjusted to the PRISMA statement.

Results: A total of 1095 articles were identified, of which 11 were included for the review after meeting the eligibility criteria. These were 7 systematic reviews, two systematic reviews with meta-analysis and economic evaluation, and two scoping reviews.

Conclusions: The diverse areas of research, such as economic evaluations, financing, governance, insurance, and service delivery, are factors that influence economic performance and social well-being, which could explain the development of societies and provide tools to reduce inequalities.
