Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is characterized by a stage of changes that may involve the appearance of behaviors such as substance use, risky sexual behaviors, suicidal behavior and violence, among others, which is why practices such as Mindfulness and the ability to perceive, understand and regulate emotions such as Emotional Intelligence (EI) have shown effects on such behaviors. Objective: to analyze the available scientific evidence on Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence in adolescents. Material and methods: A systematic review was carried out, using descriptors in English (Mindfulness, emotional intelligence, adolescent) and Spanish (atención plena, inteligencia emocional, adolescente) for the search strategy. Results: It was identified that there is a positive and significant relationship and effect between the practice of Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence. Conclusion: Participants with a higher level of mindfulness are those who have better emotional regulation skills, are more aware of their emotions, competent to cope with problems and have better interpersonal relationships.
