Abstract

This article seeks to demonstrate that the general arguments about scienti?c exploration are also suitable for space sciences. The work is based on the example of the exploration of Venus and what it tells us about our own planet. It argues that Leslie’s concept of probability is incorrect, as are also the doubts on Venusian evidence. Likewise, it concludes that we cannot deny that the unexpected discoveries that have resulted from the exploration of Venus are important to help us understand our own planet. And if these discoveries are going to be rejected, it must be for scienti?c reasons and not for intuitions about probability.
