Translation as A Rhetorical-Aesthetic Problem in Die Aufgabe des Übersetzers

The present work proposes to analyze the intersection between aesthetics and rhetoric in Die Aufgabe des Übersetzers, by Walter Benjamin. Based on this, through a way of expository interpretation, we will address how a series of mediations are articulated among translation, Sprache and reading, such as the rhetorical-aesthetic grounding of the verbal symbolism of poetry and the discourse of criticism, the posthumous condition of the life of the works and the paradoxical character of the impossibility of translation. From the exposition of these moments, we will arrive at the final considerations that reveal these mediations between translation and reading find both their condition of possibility and their place of convergence in the non-communicative character that constitutes works of art and in the irreducible heterogeneity between languages.
