Abstract

This article attempts to trace the determinants and factors that influenced the transformations in the Workers' Party (PT) over thirty years of history, that is, since its founding in 1980 until the last year of the second term of Lula da Silva as president of the Brazilian republic in 2010. It is believed that going through the party´s history, it’s possible to know about the recent history of Brazil, since the struggles for democratization from the late 1970s and early 1980s, passing through the neo-liberalism in the country until the current phase of called new developmentally.
