Descriptive analysis: city image creation and the recovery of historical centres in Latin America

Abstract

This paper aims to develop an analytical description of the processes by which images of cities are created and transformed. To begin this analysis, it is written about the emergence of Latin American cities, after completing the independence war that erupted on the continent. To continue, it's narrated the development of these new images that urban organizations projected of themselves. To proceed, is shown how as a cause of negative outcomes, are put in place plans to improve the historic centers of cities to make up for its bad image. Finally, a conclusion is drawn where it's contained the relationship between, firstly, the whole process of recovery of the city image, and secondly, the interference of these aspects in social development at local and regional levels.
