Lenders Jews in Barranquilla during the second half of the nineteenth century: the case of Don Nicolas Salcedo, José del Carmen Salcedo and Senior Jacob

Abstract

This work aims to identify and describe major lenders Jews who settled in Barranquilla during the second half of the nineteenth century. It also analyzes the socio-political and economic means used to enter the local elite and exercise at first his work as merchants and later become traders, lenders.
