Characterization of the cultural identity of Sincelejo (Colombia) for tourism
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe the attributes of the cultural identity of Sincelejo. A descriptive quantitative methodology was used, which included a survey of 211 participants. The results were analyzed using SPSS software version 26, with the support of Excel 2023. The information shows the elements recognized by residents, visitors, and businessmen about what distinguishes this city region to promote tourism, which includes Morroa, Corozal and Sampúes. Among the recognized attributes we find, regarding gastronomy, the mote de queso and sancocho; in terms of music and dance, porro, fandango, and vallenato. The religion is predominantly Catholic. The most representative festivals are the Dulce Nombre de Jesús, the Carnival of Corozal, and the Pito Atravesao Festival. The conclusion that promotional strategies are required to strengthen the cultural identity of this place
considering that there are some that are not autochthonous, meaning that traditions are being lost and it is necessary to rescue them, is reached.
