Characterization of the Cultural Identity for the tourism of Sincelejo, Colombia

The purpose of this article is to describe the attributes of the cultural identity of Sincelejo. A descriptive quantitative methodology was used, which included a survey of 211 participants. The results were analyzed using SPSS software version 26, with the support of Excel 2023. The information gathered shows the elements recognized by residents, visitors, and businessmen about what distinguishes this city region to promote tourism, which includes Morroa, Corozal and Sampúes. Among the attributes recognized are in the gastronomy the mote de queso and sancocho, in terms of music and dance, the porro, fandango and vallenato, the religion is predominantly Catholic, the most representative festivals, the Dulce nombre de Jesús, the Carnival of Corozal the festival of the Pito Atravesao. It is concluded that promotional strategies are required to strengthen the cultural identity of this place considering that there are some that are not autochthonous, so it is considered that traditions are being lost and it is necessary to rescue them.
