Abstract

Pancreatic lesions are uncommon but result in morbidity and mortality ranging from 3% to 17 %. The case of a five-year-old patient who was admitted due to pancreatic trauma with disruption of the pancreatic duct secondary to child abuse is presented. Opportune diagnosis and surgical management were performed using a Letton-Wilson procedure, preserving the distal pancreas and spleen. The patient made a satisfactory recovery without complications and was discharged after 12 days. The implications of childhood pancreatic trauma are discussed, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
