Alteration of the sexual response cycle in women using combined oral contraceptives

Objective To estimate the effect of female sexuality due to the use of the contraceptive combination estradiol valerate / Dienogest against Ethinylestradiol / Drospirenone.
Material and methods A controlled, randomized, unblinded clinical trial was carried out on 174 women, between 18 and 39 years of age, who underwent two hormonal contraceptive options with estradiol valerate / Dienogest and ethinylestradiol / Drospirenone; in a private clinic in Armenia, Quindío, between 2013 and 2017. The female sexual function index (IFSF) was used to analyze the sexual function of the participating women; at the beginning, at six, at eighteen and thirty-six months after the start of the contraceptive.
Results At the end of the study, the contraceptive combination estradiol valerate / Dienogest was a less aggressive therapy in the alteration of the sexual response cycle of the users, while the ethinylestradiol / drospirenone combination significantly affects the desire and excitement with lower scores in the IFSF.
Conclusions The results indicate that the estradiol valerate / Dienogest combination affects the desire, arousal and IFSF score less than the ethinylestradiol / drospirenone combination.

1. Que, independientemente de las reglamentaciones legales existentes en razón a la vinculación de las partes de este contrato, y cualquier clase de presunción legal existente, las partes acuerdan que el AUTOR autoriza de manera pura y simple a La UNIVERSIDAD DEL NORTE , con el fin de que se utilice el material denominado en la Revista
2. Que dicha autorización se hace con carácter exclusivo y recaerá en especial sobre los derechos de reproducción de la obra, por cualquier medio conocido o por conocerse, comunicación pública de la obra, a cualquier titulo y aun por fuera del ámbito académico, distribución y comercialización de la obra, directamente o con terceras personas, con fines comerciales o netamente educativos, transformación de la obra, a través del cambio de soporte físico, digitalización, traducciones, adaptaciones o cualquier otra forma de generar obras derivadas.
