The other and the exclusión: a philosophical reading for two categories, valid for world “without frontiers”
Abstract
This paper intends to show, basing on two cases —one taken from past history and another one from recent history, both examples of racial and sex segregation—, how theoretical advances and academic efforts that were made to bridge and, if possible, eliminate those evils from sociocultural world, are still far from being real. This is evidenced by almost quotidian news showing events of exclusion and repudiation of
the other, behavior visible both in civilized world and in countries in which moral and material progress still advances with shy steps. This exercise, and the analysis of the presented cases, wants to show how the problem of racial and sex segregation is expressed. For sustaining those reviews, revisions of central concepts of analysis,
the
other,
exclusion
and
gender,were made.
