Abstract

The objective of this article is to evaluate critically the potential and limitations of the practice of edutainment in media in achieving its educational purposes.In the paper, a special attention is paid to the way edutainment has been used to fight against HIV/AIDS, starting form the author's research in South Africa (www.media.ku.dk/HIVAIDSComm<http://www.media.ku.dk/HIVAIDSComm> ). A review of literature about EE in general, is also presented. The field of EE Is deconstructed and evaluated from the generational perspective, highlighting three major «generations» of EE.
