Abstract

Introduction: Technodependency is a growing phenomenon that could intensify psychosocial risks such as technostress and technoaddiction, which are associated with health deterioration and negative consequences for organizations.

Objective: Analyze the role of technodependence in technostress and technoaddiction in Colombian and Mexican workers.

Materials and methods: A study was carried out with an associative, predictive strategy, which included 1.137 participants (Colombian nationality=46 % and Mexican nationality=54 %). A sociodemographic and labor data sheet was used, as well as the measurement scales of technodependence, technostress and technoaddiction. For data analysis, a trail model was performed.

Results: The Mute Generation (r=151), the compulsive use of the cell phone (r=384), phubbing (r=312) and the use of the cell phone while driving (r=-0.21) present a positive relationship with excessive use. of technologies and have a direct influence on their compulsive use. It is concluded that technodependence plays a predictive role of technostress and especially of technoaddiction in Colombian and Mexican workers. It is essential to watch over the behavior of these emerging psychosocial risks associated with technology, given the implications it has on people's health, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic’s context.
