Abstract
This article shows the description of geometrical reasoning according to Van Hiele, in students of first semester of Licenciatura en Pedagogía Infantil (Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia). To learn some of the geometrical concepts, the methodology of mentefactos, a line of cognitive Psychology, was used. The study was descriptive with a pre-experimental design, carried out in 15 students of first semester of the program, during first semester of 2005. 8 students were selected as a sample. A test was applied before starting Geometry Unit, and other one at the end of the Unit. The objective of tests was to describe geometrical reasoning according to Van Hiele. An analysis statistical-descriptive was carried out. Results points at the beginning of the Geometry Unit, Mode was level zero and level two; at the end of the Unit, Mode was level two.
