Abstract

Objective: Compare the effectiveness of telepractice with conventional face-to-face therapy in the treatment of children with speech sound disorder. The aim is to determine if telepractice is an effective alternative that can equal or exceed the results obtained through in-person therapy.

Materials and methods: Systematic review following the parameters of the PRISMA statement, the PICO model was used for the research question, the articles were selected from the databases Scopus, Taylor and Francis, PubMed, and Sage Journals using a search algorithm with described words in the DeSC and MeSH.

Results: Five articles were used, allowing us to determine that the number of studies that compare the effectiveness between both models is limited and of variable quality; telepractice makes it possible to evaluate and intervene in children with speech sound disorders, obtaining equally effective developments and similar progress when compared to the conventional face-to-face model.

Conclusions: Telepractice has proven to be an alternative for speech therapy processes; however, it is necessary to increase research to support its implementation.
