Tense and genres in a Spanish as a Foreign Language program

Abstract
Currently, one supposes that for achieving high levels of proficiency in a second language, an immersion in significant discursive contexts is enough. Grammar features are introduced only at sentence level, and sometimes they are perceived as "a heavy load". Teachers could be constrained by these beliefs and they could also avoid using some resources that with text types (genres), can benefit students. Based on those assumptions, this article discusses and illustrates some typical features of genres, especially, tense and verb forms. This is done in order to help move teachers and students toward improving their writing and literacy skills in a second language.
