Abstract
Colombian education is living a crucial moment in its history. This is possibly the first time a president, in his inauguration speech, states the importance of not only the access to education but also to quality of that education, as well as the relevant role of teachers in our country development. This acknowledgement for a profession which has been considered as a third class one and sub valued by society, probably is produced by the processes of personal and professional growth Colombian teachers has undergone through postgraduate programs (specialization, master, doctorate), and mainly by becoming researchers of their own practice. All this has allowed to open a space of based-on-evidence discussion about the quality of Colombian education. In this process, academic journals have played an important role because they have become the place in which teachers from Colombia and other countries have found a space to report their researches and reflections about their pedagogical practices.
