Imaginarios de ciudadanía en niños y niñas: ¿súbditos o empoderados?

This paper presents and analyzes the imaginaries of Barranquilla’s children of Colombia about citizenship. This research project, which originates this article, is focused on imaginaries because it considers that the way the reality is conceived by people has consequences in the role and behaviour of individual’s within a given society. Data were collected by means of group discussions and field notes. Variables such as citizenship imaginary, power and participation were analysed in children between 9 to 11 years old selected from low, middle and high socioeconomic strata of the Barranquilla city, in order to understand how these individuals are being integrated as citizens in their society and what aspects strengthening or weakening their interest towards collective issues.
