Abstract
This paper presents the results of a research which attempted to describe some types of mistakes first semester undergraduate students frequently show when they want to find solutions for problems that need algebraic manipulations. In addition, the study aimed at identifying some possible mistakes sources and proposing a methodological alternative way in order to minimize these mistakes.
