Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of estimation on the conceptualization of the area. Applying a quasi-experimental design, with a group before and after, with non-equivalent control group. The subjects were students of third semester of Business Administration and International Business, aged between 17 and 22 years, of both genders. The methodology is founded on estimating areas with grid regions under a curve, taking as a pretext the study of the definite integral. We found that although there is no significant difference in scores between the control group and the experimental group on post-test, the methodology influenced significantly in the conceptualization of the area on the learner of the experimental group, because significant differences were found when comparing the intragroup difference between the experimental group and the control group.
